Announcing Our New Executive Director: Lindsay Clothier Browning

The Board of the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce Lindsay Clothier Browning as our next Executive Director, effective September 3, 2024. Lindsay brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to our community, making her an ideal leader to guide the Chamber in its mission of supporting Island businesses and fostering local economic growth.

Lindsay brings more than 20 years of diverse professional experience to the role. Most recently, Lindsay served as Business Director at Bainbridge Island Rowing (BIR), where she helped open a new waterfront rowing center and launched a venue rental line of business. Prior to BIR, she spent more than a decade as a strategic and marketing consultant to businesses and nonprofits after holding marketing leadership roles in the technology and professional services sectors. She was also founder and CEO of Generous Goods, a social enterprise she created to amplify the impact of brands that give back to good causes.

Lindsay also brings a substantial track record of active and successful community involvement. As an Island resident for the past 15 years, she has served on numerous local boards, including the Bainbridge Schools Foundation, Bainbridge Island School District PTO Council, Bainbridge Island Rowing, Bainbridge Island Little League, and West Sound Wildlife Shelter. She has served on multiple regional boards as well, including Cancer Lifeline and Camp Fire.

“The Chamber’s mission resonates powerfully with me on many levels,” Lindsay said, “and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the next chapter of its growth and success. I can’t wait to get started.”

The Chamber of Commerce has been a cornerstone of the Bainbridge Island community since its inception in 1927. An unusual combination of member-driven advocacy organization, visitor center, state licensing facility, and major event sponsor, the Chamber sits at the nexus of many aspects of Island life, making the appointment of its new leader a critical task for the Board.

“Our highly engaged Board of community leaders has taken the executive search process quite seriously,” said Board Chair Matt Grady. “Over the past two months, we’ve met with a number of very qualified candidates. Lindsay’s well-rounded experience and passion for the job really stood out to us. Ultimately, it was her data-driven approach and her vision for enhancing the business environment in a community-centric way that led to her appointment. We are confident that her leadership will effectively advance our mission to promote a prosperous and thriving Island community.”

When Lindsay assumes her new position on September 3, she will replace Interim Executive Director, Erika Borg, who has been in the role since May. Erika will continue to serve as a director on the Chamber’s Board.

“I’d like to publicly recognize and thank Erika for her leadership and excellent stewardship of the Chamber over the past four months,” Grady said. “She has steered the organization through a complex transition period and effectively set Lindsay and the Chamber up for significant success moving forward.”
