Bainbridge Needs You: Volunteers Required To Keep The Grand Old 4th Grand

**UPDATE 6/27**

GET READY TO CELEBRATE!!!

We’re truly thankful to everyone who stepped up, we have all the volunteers we need to ensure that this Grand Old 4th is the BEST yet!

And now, as they say … ON WITH THE SHOW!

As it has each year since 1967, the Grand Old 4th not only pulls Islanders together, but it also needs the active support of our community to make the magic happen…

It takes a small army of Grand Old 4th volunteers to keep everything on time, in place, and fun for the thousands of visitors to Bainbridge’s biggest day of the year – and that is where the generous of heart, spirit, and time come to the fore – signups have now opened for various shifts across the course of the day and we need your support to help fill them.

As you might expect, the world is a rather different place from the last (pre-pandemic) year that the Grand Old 4th was possible, and after 2 years off, many life changes, new habits and the end of long-standing personal commitments meant some familiar faces have become no longer automatic choices, leading to more gaps in our line-up than usual.

Indeed, due to a lack of previously returning crew, the way things stand right now, there is a real possibility that we may have to (very reluctantly) reduce the number of parade entries or even the hours of the Beer/Wine Garden… and no-one wants that to happen, so please consider donating some time to the cause!

The most urgent need is for more people to staff the parade’s safety barricades, but the full list of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Parade Route Barricades
  • Parade Marshals
  • Parade Entry Check-ins & Information Desk
  • Street Fair Vendor Check-ins & Information Booth
  • Beer & Wine Garden
  • Hydration stations
  • Recycling stations
  • Waste Stations
  • General Set-up/Tear-down
