Blair Witch Halloween Screening Aims To Scare Up New Funding For Historic Lynwood Theatre

Everything You Heard Is True: Screening Also Features Q+A With Director & Producer Team Behind Most Successful Independent Film Of All Time

In October 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary… or so the story goes.

For one night only, on Saturday October 30, 2021, The Blair Witch Project will return to the big screen at Bainbridge’s Historic Lynwood Theatre. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to help the Lynwood with its upcoming refurbishment project.

Dan Myrick & Julia Fair, the Bainbridge-based co-creators of the film will host a special Q+A session after the screening which will dive into mankind’s shared love of a good story, especially one that blurs the line between fact and fiction.

In Julia’s own words,

“There is a misconception that we worked hard to fool our audience, when the truth was our audience worked hard to fool themselves. In a world of Easter Bunnies and Santa Claus, we should embrace the reality that human beings are emotional creatures who want to perpetuate romantic and emotional stories in their lives, both in their fearful and joyful moments.

People crave excitement.  They want to craft a narrative about the fears that might land at their doorstep, and it better be grand.  What they want to hear about are aliens and witches and vast organized groups of enemies bent on destruction of liberty.”
