Buxton Humor Award Presented, Wrapping Up 2022’s Grand Old 4th Celebration

As tradition dictates, the official wrap-up of each Grand Old 4th celebration is by the Parade MC’s decision around their favorite parade entry, and a presentation of the winner’s check to both the entrant and the local nonprofit that they decide to donate the prize to.

The ‘Frankie’ award was created in 2013 by long-time parade announcers Frank Buxton and John Ellis as part their mission to keep things fun, and offers a $1,000 cash prize to be donated to the local nonprofit of the winner’s choice. The Buxton Award continues on in Frank’s memory with the support of his wife, Cynthia Sears.

Here in 2022, the kudos go to the team that worked on and walked for The Ravine’s parade entry as the official winners of the 2022 Buxton Award! The Ravine is the location of a collection of locally-owned businesses – ranging from the Bainbridge Apothecary & Tea Shop,  Island Life Artisan Gifts, Emma & Otto’s Ice Cream, and the Taco Barn – at 450 Winslow Way East.

To get a sense of what was so appreciated bask in some shots (courtesy of Bainbridge’s own Brofsky Productions) of The Ravine’s sun, rain, and rainbow-based meteorological winning entry:
